Help Contacts A Plenty

So I was looking over the wife's Rezound yesterday and noticed she had duplicate contacts. And they were a blend of "Phone", "Google" and "SIM". I tried to export them to the SD as I was hoping I'd get a prompt to import them all as Google contacts and eliminate all the duplication. This has worked for me on other phones but I got no such prompt with hers. So I went onto her Google account and got things straightened out there. All contacts are present and accounted for and all duplicates have been merged. But, the duplicates of various types still exist on the phone itself including some Google duplicates which is troubling since I just merged them all online. And that was after forcing a resync to update the changes.

So my question is...does anyone run ONLY Google contacts on this phone? And if so, how would you go about cleaning out all the others aside from individual deletion? I have a theory that this may be related to excess syncing and possibly even phone overheating issues. There's so many duplicates, I feel like it could be confusing normal operations.

I have this issue as well. Very annoying. My old Eris never did this. I'd like the phone to default to Google, but can't find the setting anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas?

Same problems here and it's annoying since there is no clue on how to merge the duplicates. Someone out there can help us, please ?

I'm not sure what version of sense you're running, but if you open the people app and hit menu there should be a "de-duplicate contacts" option. In addition, if you open the people app, on the top click on phonebook and it will give you the option to include phone, google, sim etc in your phonebook...just leave google selected (i also leave phone checked). This is how it works for me on sense 3.6, hope it helps

I had this same issue and I used CONTACT REMOVER from the PLAY market to remove most. I made sure that Google was my only account it sync with under SETTINGS then ACCOUNTS & SYNC. I finally went into PEOPLE and at the top I clicked on PEOPLE and unchecked GOOGLE which left SIM and PHONE checked, I then manually deleted those and then unchecked them and rechecked GOOGLE and so far I haven't had any duplicates.. Im guessing you would have to link the face books but im not sure since i don't use those
