got it all installed but im getting 118m/159m

click apps on internal and it says working then it just doesnt seem to do anything i'll catch a glipse of something about kernal not supported for file system or something

I would like to add a helpful tip. This is from recent, repeated experience.

If you use DT a2sd and have marked the Dalvik cache to run on SD-Ext, then at some point clear the Dalvik cache (such as via CWM), you may find your internal memory suddenly get filled up.

This is because the cache and sym-link to the cache is deleted, but the Dalvik flag (used by a2sd) still remains. This results in the cache now rebuilding on your internal memory and yet a2sd "thinks" the cache is on SD-Ext.

To fix it, you just need to go into a2sd (GUI is fine) and select that you want Dalvik to be in internal memory. Reboot. Then go into a2sd again and move it to SD-Ext. It will correctly reset the flag, recreate the sym-link, and free up your internal memory again.

Not using A2SD anymore since I switched to Hroarks solution for CM7.

Before that, I swore by A2SD for it's simplicity and ease of use. The glitch that you mentioned was one of the few minor grumbles that I had with it. Thanks for posting that, as it can be confusing.

not QUITE sure what i did/doing wrong, but i know i did SOMETHING wrong and just cant figure it out lol. I followed the steps from the post, etc etc, set the partition size to 1024 and swap to 0. rebooted.

reboot was a normal "length of time" and when I ran the a2sd check, i get this

"EXT partition found, but not mounted.
your rom may not be setup to use a2sd.
check with rom dev blah blah blah"

I have ctmod 2.4, which should be ext4, from a post i saw earlier.

Please advise on my stupid mistake. Thank you

go into recovery go to mounts mount the system and data. You click on it and it changes to say unmount then you know its mounted then flash the zip again.

Tried doing that. After I flash the zip, I checked the mount option and they were unmounted again. Tried mounting system then data again and flashing again and rebooting. Still getting same a2sd check message. Its also not wiping my sdcard for what it's worth.

i think you may also need to do a factory reset. that will format your newly created partitions. then do the steps outlined above.

So factory reset from CWM, then follow the steps from step 1 with mounting system/data, installing, rebooting?

/EDIT
Or I guess I should ask at which step should I do the factory reset?

this is how i did my last install.

Used Odin to install rooted stock with cwm (chin checka's)
flashed ctmod
partition disk with cwm
factory reset to format partitions
reboot
copy dta2sd to sd
reboot into cwm
mount system and data
then install dta2sd zip

you might also want to make sure you are running hroark's latest cwm before installing the zip. He did an update recently. I think he mentioned something about correctly loading zip files. it's in that thead.

you're booting so you flashed CTMod successfully.

you're getting an error message from the a2sd script so you did that part correctly.

i guess the card is somehow at fault. try reseating it and/or partition it again but make sure you back it up first.

if that doesn't work you could try updating your cwm and do it all again.

if THAT doesn't work you should probably download all of the files again to make sure they're not corrupted .

let us know. ;)

Hmmm I guess doing it from scratch might not be a terrible idea. Ill have to do something like that at home, not enough time at work :(

updated cwm the other day to newest version, going to try reseating sd card in a few mins and repart'ing and reinstalling

/EDIT
Reseated and repartitioned the sdcard doing the steps again. same a2sd check msg is coming up.

Okay. Now while "su" try "a2sd reinstall" and reboot.

If it sees the SD-Ext, but says a2sd isn't running. Then it seems to me that the init.d script is failing to run or run properly.

Do you have anything else running on this phone? Any optimization scripts?

optimization scripts: whatever comes with the ctmod2.4. I usually dont add to many tweak type things bc I end up messing them up.

Tried the a2sd reinstall and got a

"SD card not mounted
cant reinstall apps to sd card"

so I unmounted sd card, remounted and ran again. Same msg, but my sdcard IS mounted, as all my apps are on there (having the apps already on sd card wouldnt affect this would it?)

Well, we could probably try a million things to see what is happening with mmcblk0p2 not mounting to /system/sd, but I'm not yet an expert.

I'd say that a good thing to do is a CWM and TB backup. Do a factory reset, clear the cache, and Dalvik. This way you are at square one with CTMod. Then install a2sd zip in CWM so nothing could possibly mess it up.

I mention this because you say you already have apps on your SD. This makes me think you have App2SD or Link2SD already installed.

OHHHH I DO!!!! have app2sd installed!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe thats why it's borking? I will try uninstalling it and redoing the steps again.

/EDIT
Same problems after uninstalling app2sd app. Will probably have to end up reseting, etc etc.

Doing a fresh install never hurts in my opinion. I do make backups. But there is something about that new prevail smell after a complete reinstall.

I usually start with a clean slate based on ctmod and then dta2sd. And reinstall essential apps from market, amazon, getjar(lots of free apps that cost money elsewhere, and legal as far as i know, for example, beautiful widgets).

But after loading up with apps on what I think I will use, i end of up using very few. so i tend to not use backups all that much. except for a clean version of ctmod installed. then load it up with more apps I will never use. But some are fun to try.

and the cycle repeats...

just to be sure here, you are using the zip from the OP and not from xda or elsewhere, right?

EDIT: to be sure your download is good here is the MD5 of the original. you can check it with something like winmd5 (it's free).

MD5 checksum: *first post*

i'll put this in OP also.

Yeah, I downloaded it from the OP. Tried the md5 and I got

53b31717da6e17d878993648686099a1

Dont know alot about md5's except that that doesnt match yours lol

My copy of dt_a2sd_prevail.zip also has an MD5 of 53b31717da6e17d878993648686099a1

And I've been using it since November.

That's my fault. Old test copy marked wrong. But if your versions are the same... I'm back to a faulty SD card. Do you have another you can try?

Nah, only the 1 sd card. Only thing I can think of is reinstalling ctmod from scratch then doing a2sd before anything else.

so when i put on honeybread sandwich it had a2sd on my apps trey. but it wouldnt let me open it. then i went to the darkremor a2sd prevail uppdate and went through the process to install from zip on CWM. all went well and would then let me get on a2sd app. my phones memery was full so thats why i did this whole process. i tried moveing my apps to my sd card and it looked like it said it moved them but my memery is the same. i think it might have droped .7MB not sure. the low memery icon is gone now. but it still show that i have 16MB available. also when i partitioned my card it said it would wipe it out. i expected to have to put all my music and pix back on from my back up off my PC. but when i checked my card they were allready on the card. did i do something wron or did it work right?
