if your card wasn't wiped, it was probably not partitioned correctly.
it sounds like you've tried to move dalvik to /cache.
make sure you select dalvik to sd-ext and try again.
use your file explorer to see if the folder /system/sd was made and check its contents. you should have folders in there named 'app' and 'app-private'
and when you move your dalvik it will show up in there also.
i suggest you use a command line or get a terminal app to run commands, the a2sdgui does not report space correctly
once you have a terminal app or command line working you should run
before any other commands and then
to see what is going on. apps *should* be linked automatically on ext4 formatted roms but i haven't tested them all.
dalvik can be moved to sd-ext either with the app or with the command
booting after this can take from 3 to 17 minutes depending on how many apps are installed
after this dalvik should be handled with the app and not cwm to avoid problems.

This is what I would do . I would uninstall A2sd from phone . Then go in to CWM and partition you card . CWM/ advanced /Partition SD Card / 512M / 0M ( I picked 512M but you can pick what you want to . I would pick at least 512M or more ) . Then let it partition your card . It may take a minute or two . After you've done that , reboot your phone and add the A2Sd to you card . Reboot in to recovery and install zip from sdard . That should work for ya .
Make sure that you store anything that you want to keep on a computer or something because once you partition the card , everything will be lost !!!!

No problem . I hope that you got it working . I've since moved on to CM7 and am using A2E but I sure as heck remember installing A2Sd when I was running CTMOD . LOL . I changed ROMs so many times that I'll never forget how to install A2Sd .

As for why you are only reading 11 gigs now , I dunno . That's not right . I would reformat the card again and reinstall A2Sd . You did choose the 512M didn't you ?? . As for flashing a different ROM just flash it and repeated these steps for installing A2Sd again . Inigomon can probably answer the question about what happened to the 5 gigs . This is his baby and if anyone knows it , he does . I'm gonna get off here for the night . I'll check back w/ the thread in the morning . Hopefully you'll have figured it out . If not , we'll work on it some more .

ok I think you are going to have to copy everything back off the sd card and put on the computer.
you will then boot into cwm recovery go to partition sd card then when you start it will pop up 32mb swap, use the volume down button and put it at 0mb swap then press cam button and it will then say 512mb ext partition that is about what you want so just press the cam button then it will say the rest fat32 and again that is what you want so press cam button it will format it.
what you did this time was not wrong just not needed and so it took up more of your sd card space.
as to why your card is showing up with less is because it is reading the fat32 portion of the card. and hd and sd companies do not use bytes as the base for there hd size.
they assume 1mb is 1000kb and one gb is 1000mb when in reality 1mb is 1024kb and one gb is 1024mb so a 16gb card is in reality a 15.625mb card
then after formating you lose a small bit of space so a formatted 16gb card is now 15.5mb(this is an example number not accurate) so after you format a ext partition plus swap you are down some but in your case thats alot so maybe you increased the size of the sdext and didnt realize it?

The largest ext size available is 4GB. That may be overkill. Changing it is entirely up to you, though.

so i went back to reinstall. first i made a backup on titinaum backup. then another on CWM. i tried to move apps and dalvik back to phone but it said it didnt have enough room. deleted 4 apps i new i could get back from the market or from titinaum backup. plus i copied my sd card to my pc as well. but it still said i didnt have enough room. uninstalled a2sd with TB. then i went to follow your instructions. rebooted to CWM and went to partition sd card. i never saw 32mb swap. after chooseing partition sd card the next screen was Ext size. so i choose 512. next screen was swap size. i choose 0m. every time i pressed the cam buttion it just advanced me to the next screen withoiut letting me choose someting. onec i choose 0m and hit cam it started formatting unsted of saying fat32. they order it came up was different then you described but i choose everything you said just in a different order. then i rebooted. boot anamation was really fast for some reason. like on crack. lol but all my apps were gone. i expected that cause i couldnt get them back on to phone. now TB is gone to. not sure how to get it back. phone is fast and snappy. i no i can get TB from the market but that app is gone to. tried to restore from CWM but said no files found. put my backup from pc on card. still nothing. not sure why market is gone. i could reinstall all my apps threw market if it was on there. any pointers? sorry for the long book. lol

Sorry about the order I was doing it by memory(faulty i guess im getting old now lol) my phone is out being fixed. what rom did you flash? ctmod should have market in it. after its partitioned and ready put your rom on the sd card and reboot into recovery and flash the rom then market will be there.

Its all good. Thanks for the help. My card went from 11gb to 14gb. Think that's where it was. Useing honeybread sandwich. Also when i put a2sd Back in card it said it completed but never showed IP in phone. Any info on that or why i can't restore in for from off PC or through CWM?

I have been doing a lot of testing lately, so I've doing a lot of restoring and backing up. This last time I did a restore everything went fine, but when I went to /system/sd, I noticed the app, app-private and all that, but here is my question, in each of those folders there is an identical folder. Like if I go into /system/sd/app, there will be all my apps as well as a folder named app, and when I enter that folder it the same thing as the prior directory. Is that normal or did I screw something up somewhere?
That and I moved my apps and dalvik to sd and it shows that it's on my card, but there is also a dalvik- cache, app, and app-private with files in them in my /data/ directory. Are they just links to the ones on my sd?

yes the folders in /data are just links to the sd card. the system does not see that though and that is why your phone can use them.
If you are in /data look at the free and used memory and then go into the /app then see how those numbers changed. your actually in the sd card at that point.
as far as your extra folders in /app that is a new one to me never seen that before.

The extra folders are on my ext partition. If I go through /system/sd/ there are the normal app, app-private folders and so on. Its when I open one of those folders where I find the extras and when I open /system/sd/app there is a list of my apps, but at the top of the list there is a folder called app its like going further down the rabbit hole, lol.

Did you uninstall the app? If so , you will have to extact it from the 187MoD.zip folder and move it to /system/app/ and reboot and re-flash the dt_a2sd_prevail.zip or download it from the Market and re-flash the dt_a2sd_prevail.zip
Make sure before you try to flash the dt_a2sd_prevail.zip that you go to mounts and storage and mount your system and data partitions, then hit back and proceed to flash the zip

So I went and opened a few of the app folders on my ext4 a2sd partition and all the folders even app-private, dalvik-cache, and all are like this:
