Desire v Milestone

May 12, 2010
I asked this on the Milestone forum as, Ill hold my hand up, I really do want the Milestone.

BUT. When you look at the specs you'd think that the Desire really is the way forward.

It will be a business phone first and foremost, exchange sync. Bit of web browsing, maybe load a SSH, VNC, RDP clients onto it for basic server house keeping.

Social Networking client it wont be.

So is the Desire still the way forward, or would the Milestone still be the best way.

I realize that you guys might be biased but if theres anyone who does use ur Desire more as a business phone Id be interested to hear how you get on.

I'm dreading the soft keyboard.

I use my Desire for business e-mails, sync it directly to my e-mails and calendar (not contacts because it decided to add those into my phonebook, don't want to be calling a client by mistake).

I find it excellent for work e-mails, really simple to use, got my signature set up just as it is on my computer, logo as well.

I don't use my phone as a business phone as such but I like it for e-mails, not sure what else you'd use it for for business use?

Milestone has less RAM and less CPU which to my understanding makes it an inferior device. Even Desire could do with a faster CPU and more ram.

Milestone ha sslightly larger screen (in terms of resolution), however you probably won't notice that.

And the physical QWERTY keyboard is hardly an advantage these days. If you've tried Swype you'll understand that the only use of hardware keyboard is extra weight and size on your phone.

My girlfriend has the milestone as she wanted the keyboard and i have the Desire and the Desire is far superior in my opinion, its faster to do anything and has a lot more memory for running apps. Her Milestone seems to idle with around 60mb free with nothing running compared to over 200mb on the Desire.

From what you say you want it for then it has to be the Desire
