Help Different Factory Hard Reset Combination? (D802) (4.4.2)

atyom

Lurker
For some reason I can't get into Hard Reset via pressing down power+vol down, releasing and pressing again, it only works if I press power+vol down and then vol down+up when the LG logo appears , why is that? It also looks a bit different from the stock Hard Reset mode, could it be because of the software version?

The hard reset screen looks like this for me: http://imgur.com/F9xAgf7.

My software version is D80220a-ISR-XX (Kitkat).

I'm scared of installing TWRP beacuse of this, might not boot into recovery or do even worse things.

The combo varies slightly, especially on the D802. It seems to have its own combo and some of the combos have even changed with software updates. The screen you are seeing is the same one I've always seen. You're good to go.

I see, thank you.
I was just worried because I already bricked my device once, I was trying to reinstall Cloudy G2 rom and I supposed that doing a full wipe will also remove the baseband that I flashed (the one that's mentioned in the installation) and I flashed the baseband again and when trying to install the rom it got me in a bootloop (I made a thread about this a long time ago and you helped me and I forgot to thank you).

You seem to be one of the few (or the only one) people that actually answer and resolve issues on this forum so while i'm at it I'll ask a few questions.

Do I even need to flash this baseband for Cloudy G2? Since i'm on stock kitkat I suppose that I already have a kitkat baseband(?).

You probably know about that kitkat bug that makes earphones make noises (from what i've noticed it's only present on 32ohm and higher earphones) so, does Cloudy G2 2.2 fix this? i'm pretty sure it does since it installs it's own kernel but i'm just making sure.

I'm afraid I haven't kept up with any custom roms and the subsequent firmware requirements so I'm not much help on this one. But yeah, if Cloudy is requiring a KK baseband, and you're coming from stock KK, then as long as that's the only requirement, you're good. If the entire KK bootstack is necessary, just don't forget that if you use KK Autorec for TWRP, it downgrades to JB bootloader to keep loki working. So if that were an issue, you would need to instead use a bump'd TWRP and a rom which is using bump as well.

You probably already knew that but just a reminder.

I'm kind of a noob on android so I didn't really know that but thanks for the info. I will use autorec for TWRP but the bootstack isn't required (I think) it just says to do a full wipe, flash KK baseband and then flash the rom in the installation instructions.

I'm not sure if i'm allowed to post links to other forums but here's the XDA thread if you're interested : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783192

If I will flash the baseband although I supposedly already have it, can anything bad happen? doing a full wipe means deleting system which I guess contains the baseband? if it does, it makes sense that the installation would require to flash the baseband. on my previous G2 (d800) I also installed this rom, which I did flash the baseband in the installation and nothing bad happened, it was working fine but I had issues with the screen which for some reason I assumed to be software issues, tried to reinstall the rom aaand you know how that went.

The Lollipop version of this rom (Cloudy G2 3.3) doesn't require to flash a Lollipop baseband let's say, how come?

Sorry for being a complete noob.

The baseband lives at a deeper level so wiping for a rom (data, cache, dalvik) won't affect the modem/baseband. I dont remember your exact situation from earlier and I'm mobile or I'd check into it deeper. Can you link your thread? Just want to see if you were one who had a non D802 motherboard in the device. That adds a whole new level of complexity if so.

Edit: ok I found your thread and you do appear to have D800 internals. So did you flash the D800 kk modem when you ran into trouble? Remember, if you have a D800 board, you must treat the phone like a D800 in every way. Use D800 partitions, select rom for D800 (if Aroma installer too), etc.

To clarify, I have a d802 now, I used to have a d800 but I replaced it because it had screen issues.

Well anyway I guess flashing the rom without the baseband should be fine but I think I'll flash the baseband just in case.

Edit: Installed Cloudy without flashing the baseband, all went smoothly and the rom Is working fine.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.
