Disable Google search bar at top of stock launcher?

I don't want it at the top of my page. I use a widget for Google voice search, how can I disable the bar at the top of the screen?

Long press on it and drag it up till it shows remove. The color will turn red. Let go and it will be gone.

That doesn't work. It won't let you drag it anywhere. I would like to remove it if possible.

I wound up downloading Apex Launcher...was able to delete the home-screen with the Google search bar. Also, it's more customizable, imo. I'm sure other launchers will allow you to do the same thing.

P.S. Since I'm rooted I moved Apex from data/app to system/app, rebooted, and it moves it to System Rom and doesn't take away precious internal space.
