Help Disable roaming, not just data roaming

Hi
Anyone know how to disable the SF2 from roaming ?
I know how to stop data roaming but I'd like to be able to completely disabling it from roaming.
I've tried switching it to airplane mode but that also seems to disables a lot of the more useful apps.

Any advice or app recommendations very gratefully received.

I use Droidwall. Set to only use data over wifi when I strictly don't want to use the mobile signal for that.
