Help DJO7 update can't connect to phone

Attempting to install the official Samsung DJO7 flash for the M900. Got as far as where it tells you to connect the phone to the PC and then the PC cannot see the phone. Everything stops there.

Tried manually connecting to all the com ports on the com port selector, but it said it could not connect to any of the ports.

I tried it first on a Win 7 computer, then on a Vista computer. Both computers failed to connect.

Does anyone have a solution?
 
I'm assuming you followed the update instructions and removed any previously installed Samsung device driver/software? One thing that sometimes interfered with the Odin update tool was having Firefox running during the update. It might affect the official update tool too. Also, if you haven't already, try a different usb cable if one is available. If after the update process begins (past the second battery pull), it appears to stall out, wait a good long time to make sure you're not merely impatient and try unplugging and re inserting the usb cable. I know it says "don't remove" in big red letters, but it often works to un stall things. Good luck!

The one laptop was brand new, no previous software.

Anyway, I finally got sick of the crap with this phone and compatibility the latest Windows. There's no reason there should be even a minor problem connecting a phone to windows and installing a driver these days.

So, I traded it in for a new HTC today that connected the first time I plugged it in.

The Moment is history.
 
For reference when I was flashing the gf moment I couldnt get it to connect at first either. you have to completely unplug the usb from the phone and computer each time.
