Root does z4root work?

You have too root to get it free. Sprint locks it down.

Has anyone here tried the temporary root (z4root)? Supposedly, it gives you root access (allowing you to install wirelesstether and other root-only apps) until you reboot...
I read about this app on xda, but haven't tried it yet.

Yes, it should work, but it will only root your ROM. It will not unlock nand, and you must rerun it after every reboot. Basically, you will be able to run root-only apps, and that's it. You will not be able to make changes to the system, nor will you be able to flash custom ROMs or mods. It's not terribly difficult to fully root the phone using unrevoked. See the rooting for dummies sticky in this section for more information on that.
