I've android 4.3 in my galaxy nexus now. I always downloaded the factory image from Google and updated my OS till date. If I want to go back to android 4, shall I install the factory image directly? I'll flash the radio, bootloader and os images. I just want to know if there is any chance of bricking my mobile?

Yep good job, pretty much is always the boot loop after you do something like that so a full wipe is usually needed.
