Root Downgrading my gingerbread to froyo!

Ok, apologies for sounding so alarmed, but the previous version of clockwork bricked the phone if you used it to partition the SD Card.

How did you get to that stage? Did the phone and triangle appear during the process or have you rebooted?

The phone rebooted itself, I saw it there! And yeah i read about the brick thing! Was cautious!

So can I revert back to stock froyo if needs be?

You can, but I'd like to get rid of that error pic first.

Is the triangle still on screen? Can you boot back into clockwork? Turn the phone on, with the volume button held down then select Recovery, does that take you back into CWM?

Yeah i went into cwm and tried to install leedroid, didn't work properly! selected the kernel and it changed in settings, just realised i didn't wipe everything!

Can you recommend any roms?

If you can still get back into clockwork, we're fine :)

Just go with LeeDroid to start off with. Head here and the file you're looking for is called LeeDrOiD HD V3.2.1 (FTP). If you want to wipe to EXT4, you'll need the file called Optional FULL WIPE to EXT4 patch (FTP).

Download both, place them on the root of your SD Card. In clockwork, select "Install from Zip", then "Choose Zip" and select the EXT4 zip file. Once that's done what it needs to, head back to the main menu in CWM, then select "Install from Zip" again, "Choose Zip", then select the LeeDroid zip file. Again, let it do it's thing, then reboot from within clockwork and it should take you into your OS.

First boot may take a while, so don't panic if it takes up to 10 minutes.

thanks again! Will try tomorrow afternoon and post back!

im up bright and early and gonna give it a go! do i need to radio S-Off too? i used the s-off tool and chose the (usual) option with superSID and such!

It's recommended, but I was running LeeDroid with the standard radio for a few weeks with no issue.

I flashed the recommended radio last Friday and I've only noticed a wee bit of difference tbh. I'd say leave it until you're a little more confident with flashing before going for the radio.

i'll wait then!

one more question! how do i add the file you said to the custom ROM?

:)

Which file? The EXT4 Wipe? Just place that, along with the actual LeeDroid zip file on the root of your SD Card.

ok mate thankyou!

i've made a backup of my current thing and i've backed up using it so i know its good :)

can i still use htc sync? need my contacts and such to stay!

Yep, cos it's a sense based ROM, all the HTC stuff you had before will still work with the new one.

Contacts etc should be backed up to your google account anyway.

You're nearly there!

haha i know im so close!

im like your project lol :P!

do i choose install rom from sd card?

and do i choose the EXT4 full wipe or the leedroid zip?

EDIT: went ahead and just tried it out, and im now running leedroid! lags a tiny bit sometimes but ace the rest of the time!

The radio makes a noticeable difference imo. Before, iirc, I used to get 1 bar (if that) of wifi from the yard in my house, but now I get 2-3.

Glad you got it sorted eventually! :)

When is it lagging? I find it lags slightly for the first 2-3 reboots (as it syncs everything up again).

I've not really had much opportunity to test to be honest. I get a poor signal in my house and the radio hasn't really improved it very much. I do notice calls crackling a little less, but not enough to make me say it's a massive improvement. I'll need to monitor over an extended period to see what the deal is.
