Help Ear buds volume rocker...none work

I am unable to find a set of sports ear buds that have a mic and in-line volume control that actually control the volume. I have tried Puma, Skullcandy, Philips and even a Samsung S3. All with volume controls on the ear bud line, but none control the volume. The first 3 I listed all had "Made for iPhone" on the packaging and sure enough, didn't have full functionality. That kinda pissed me off. Almost everything at BestBuy was "Made for iPhone", except for the really cheap earbuds. Ideally, I'm looking for around the ear (sport/athletic) type of ear buds. Years ago I had a pair of Skullycandy buds that had a physical 'slider' volume control and those worked great. Seems even they only guarantee iDevices nowadays.

Anybody have any recommendations on brands that successfully control the volume?

I had a pair a few years ago too, the kind with the slider. I think the reason those work is because they just have an inline resistor that reduces volume to the earpieces. The kind you mostly see for sale now actually communicate with the phone to control the volume on the device itself. I don't know of any off hand that work with Android. Anything that is made for iPhone won't work with android because they are setup differently.
