Help Emergency calls only | Mobile network not available

Bought a Galaxy nexus in South Africa, was working fine for a long time there. When I moved back to India and inserted a local SIM, it started showing the message "Emergency calls only | <carrier>" constantly in notification pull down area. Network is unavailable and if I try dialling something I get error 'Mobile network not available'.

Tried selecting network manually. Didnt work.
Checking different carrier SIM cards. Didnt work.
Resetting the phone. Didnt work.
Loading factory ROM after flashing. Didnt work.
Is it possible that I didnt flash and reload the factory ROM properly?(remote possibility)

*How can I get my phone working again? How can I get network back?*

Any help will be appreciated.

Seems forum here is pretty inactive here.

Anyways, I think I found the ANSWER, which may be useful for people running into similar problems. Turns out for some reason IMEI got corrupted. It should be 35XXX but it was 00XXX, which is a generic one.
