Endless updates

My Sensation 4G is on Android 4.03, Sense 3.6, software rev 3.32.401.5

I rooted it long ago in order to install Titanium backup. A few weeks ago the backups started to fail because root privilege couldn't be obtained. I haven't had time to investigate this yet.

Today I realized that the periodic OS software update alerts and subsequent installations I'm getting aren't actually doing anything. If I check for an update right after installing one it wants to do it all over again.

Apart from backups not working and the phone not updating it's working ok. Any ideas?
 
yup... the custom recovery is preventing your updates. if your rom is still all stock,you could possibly install the stock recovery so the device will update properly.

my persoal recomendation,would be to simply flash a rom in recovery thats based on the update. since youre just stock,and the OTA is prolly minor,you can possibly flash an updated rom without a data wipe and not lose personal data.

I am not sure I understand all of the responses here (bear with me please; am not a phone geek). What is an OTA? (excuse my ignorance) -- but I get the gist.

What would my phone be running if I hadn't rooted it? Can I find out? (software rev etc.)

I took a look at the xda-developers list and was a bit daunted at the selection! Any advice on how I should decide? I'd certainly be interested to hear of the experiences of other HTC Sensation 4G owners.

BTW Yes I have Clockworkmod Recovery v5.8.0.9 installed.

BTW2 I'm guessing OTA = over the air ?

i am very sorry for the late responses,ive not been near the computer much the last couple days.

i sould suggest making a nandroing backup,then flashing a new rom in CWmod recovery.

this one is an enhanced stock rom,and would be a good "first flash" choice :)
