factory reset questions

will doing a factory reset lock my phone if it is already unlocked??

i just traded my g1 with a guy and he didnt reset the phone. he didnt give me his password either.

is there a way to remove the current gmail account to add mine on or will i just have to do the reset?

your phone won't be locked.
after the reset you should be at the gmail login screen
