Favorites keep disappearing

If this didn't keep happening I would think that I am going wacko.

I have an Avail and I had things set up and suddenly some of my favorites were missing. Not all of them and not the same ones every time. I put someone in the Favorites and 4 or 6 days later the name disappeared. I downloaded ZTE software, updated, and copied favorites back from SD card. This was fine for a while, then once again, names disappeared. This time I added them to Favs. shut the phone off, turned it on and the names were gone. called ZTE and they blew me off, offered no help. Headed to the AT&T store, the young man that helped me out, looked like he had seen a ghost when the names were entered into the Favs and then disappeared again after powering off. We reset to factory settings, it worked for a few days and now once again, the names are disappearing. It is also not the same names each time. I swear this piece of junk phone is full of gnomes, ghosts, and all around bad circuits or whatever. Not sure if anyone even wants to try to tackle this one. I finally gave up and just use the contacts file, Favs. has no reliability.:confused::confused:
As always, this gray haired, retired guy really appreciates all the help you folks can provide. Sorry this got so long.

Hi kingmt,
Thanks for the response. They are on the phone. I backed up all contacts before doing the updates and before factory reset to SD. Then copied back from SD to phone and recreated Favs from scratch.????? They just keep disappearing.

If a update to the frameware caused it then a factory reset won't fix it. You may do a tcard & start over.

Hi kingmt,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I have the problem fixed ??? ( I can move from my contacts to Favs and the name stay) but not sure how I did it. I got to fooling around with the SD and SIM copies of the contacts list. I am not real tech savvy so I am not sure where the "real" contacts list resides that is used to pull up the information. I have 5 or 6 "vcard" files on SD and not sure what is on the SIM card.

The new problem is that I try to add a new person and it doesn't show up. If I try to add it again it says "contact already exists" but I have no idea where it is. I do not see it on my list. I know I am turning into a "pain in the &&^%" but sure could use some help in explaining this whole (phone, SD SIM) mess to me.:confused:

Thanks again

If you go to contacts & tap the menu button you will see where to set the phone to show contacts from the SIM, Google, or phones internal.

EUREKA !!!!!!! The old guy with the gray hair finally gets it. :D:D:D These things are just to complex with way too many options. Sort of like looking at paint chips "500 different colors of blue to Choose from.". With the phone it's "10 ways to add a contact!!"
Once again, thanks for the help.

No problem. They are really simplistic you just need to play with it more. Just don't delete anything unless you know what it is. If you can get around Windows these are easy.
