Week old S5 on Verizon. Works ok, with a couple exceptions. I've found
workaround for most of the things that are a problem, but there are a couple:
My wife is using Easy mode on hers because on the "normal" S5, the icons are OK, but the font on the icons is miniscule. HOW do I increase the font size on the icons - NOT the system font or whatever, which appears to have no effect on the fonts of text under icons, but the font that's under each icon? If necessary the icon could get bigger, but the font needs to be larger for her.
Vibration. Or rather non. Wife is coming from a Blackberry, which vibrated like crazy. At work she HAS to keep the phone on vibrate. No ringing, no beeping, no noisy notifications... She can't feel this thing vibrate. In the case, nope. In her pocket, nope. On the table in front of her, nope........ It DOES vibrate, but is there some set of settings we can use to increase it significantly? She has "Sound mode" set to Vibrate. "Vibration Intensity" is turned all the way up for everything. I can't ever tell when it's vibrating either, but I have sounds on and everything turned all the way up... It's not great, but I can usually hear it - although, in any case we've tried, even that's really faint. So, is there some combination of settings that'll provide significantly more vibration than we're currently getting?
Nova Launcher. I thought it might be possible to do more customization in Nova rather then the default launcher. Installed fine, but when I told it to import from another launcher, and selected Touchwiz, I lost almost ALL my home page icons. All that's left is settings, and apps on the bottom line. Everything else is gone. I also had groups to organize my apps, and all the groups are gone, as are all the apps I turned off, so I'm back to seeing 5 pages of apps... Is this the way Nova works - gets rid of all the home page stuff and restores all the pages of apps, or is there something I need to do differently?
I've read a half dozen things on the Internet that INSIST the phone will answer if raised to the ear. I cannot get mine to do that. I've tried Motions and Gestures and half a dozen other things, and I can't get it to answer by swiping my hand OR by raising it to my ear. HOW do you get the thing to actually answer without hitting the home button, 'cause I even read the MANUAL to see how to answer by raising the phone and I STILL can't figure out what combination of settings makes it work.
I grabbed a small, spare SD card (32GB) and stuck it in the phone, presuming I could move a BUNCH of stuff to the SD card.... In Application Manager it showed me a list of a half dozen of the bunch of apps I've installed. All the rest have "Move to SD card" grayed out. SO, how DO I put things like Photo Gallery and all the images on the SD card? Or have the phone store messages there since everything I've read says incoming messages and mail and stuff will fill the 16GB phone. Or even have it KEEP all my contacts on the SD card? I can't move the contacts app, but shouldn't I be able to shove just about any data an app uses over there? Otherwise, why would anybody waste the money on a 64GB or 128GB card if everything has to stay on the handset?
