ForcePhone to add pressure controls to any phone

Researchers at the University of Michigan have found a way to add Force Touch and squeeze controls of any smartphone. The technology uses a phone's speaker to emit a 18 kHz tone which is picked up by the phone's microphone. The software then detects minute changes to that tone based on how you interact with the device. It can detect when added pressure is applied to the display or when the phone's body is squeezed harder than usual.
