All, we need your thoughts and input on an issue. As we know, the Razr and the Razr Maxx are essentially the same phone. That is, the Maxx has a larger battery and the Razr has a smaller battery. Otherwise they are completely the same phone. Same firmware, same firmware builds, same screens, same chips, same root methods, same ROMs, etc.

I know that personally, I'm subscribed to both forums and find the same topics being posted in each and the same responses in each (often times by the same users).

Question: Do YOU think that combining the Maxx and Razr forums be beneficial for the good of the community?

Honestly, any specifics will be pointed out in the title if they were combined (Example being "RAZR case" vs "MAXX case"). If not, they'd be in the first couple lines of the post. Plus aside from cases/docks and battery life issues, the posts will be interchangeable.
 
As a Guide here I see folks asking the same question in both forums as the Maxx is simply a Razr with an extended battery. What I see happening is that folks in each camp are only getting half the support and twice the noise. The folks trying to support users or post roms & themes have two ATR sections as well that could easily be combined.

I think it would be best for the folks looking for help, the folks looking to help, and the devs creating cool roms & themes if these were combined.

The only issue may be the device description. Phases may need to have that updated to reflect the battery differences in the two.
 
Absolutely, yes. It's a pain to keep checking both forums. These phones are identical except for the battery, and it would be easy enough to keep the battery issues identified in the thread titles.

when i had the razr maxx i dont think i ever went into the maxx section, it really isnt needed as the razr and maxx are the same, so merge the 2! :)
 
As I recall, we originally separated them because, at the time, we weren't SURE they were going to be the same phone, with the exception of the battery. Now we're sure they are the same, I think one merged forum is the way to go.
 
Merge them - I have this thought every time I come to the forum as I check the RAZR, the RAZR ATR, the MAXX, and the MAXX ATR areas. The merge would reduce my "workload" by 50% and increase the S:N ratio by a huge amount.
 
I voted no but I'm actually on the fence. Another forum has them merged into one and I find it annoying when I am reading a post about covers, cases, and/or battery performance that sometimes I'm several posts in before I realize it is about the Razr and not the Maxx.

So I guess in those specific instances as long as people post in the topic of the thread that it is Razr or Maxx specific it would be fine.

Two cents, no more....no less.
 
I have the Razr, and my girlfriend has the Maxx.

It would absolutely be great idea to merge the threads. For the vast majority of topics there is no difference between the phones.
 
Combine the 2 forums. You wont usually here a problem targeting the battery alone. "Can I use the razr Max battery in a razr" generally you won't here that.
The device has the same hardware and specs so why waste space on the server with 2 models that are the same with a one having a better capascitive charge to it.

The only problem we might have are the accessory cases
 
I think it would be great. We could just make separate threads on cases and stuff like that. I often check both forums for news on my razr, i personally would greatly like that.
 
I vote yes. I have both forums bookmarked on taptatalk. Its a pain to always be checking both. I think it would be best to have one forum called RAZR/RAZR MAXX, and then of course inside that you would have your root forum and then separate ones for accessories
 
Just as Unforgiven said, as a Guide who checks out these forums, I often see similar topics in both. Many times they get lost and/or are answered in the other one.
With phones like the SGS2, there are enough variations to have separate forums like carrier/radio issues and bloat, but with the Razr, they literally are the same.

There likely will be. Part of the beast from merging threads. That being said, there are duplicate posts/threads anyways when people don't search to see if a topic has already been discussed. It'll be an ongoing process but should help everyone get the answers to their questions, help with ____, etc both faster and more efficiently. :)
