So the phone comes with wifi tether preinstalled, but the default settings are for an ad-hoc network and after playing with the settings I still cannot get it to become a hotspot, does anyone know how to fix this?

These settings worked for me:
Set Device-Profile to auto
Set Setup-Method to Netd(master)
Uncheck WiFi-driver reload 2
Configure other settings as you see fit as long as it continues to function
