Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Morning all :) Weekend plans consist of putting up the tree, the lady has been getting into the Xmas spirit and is ready to get everything started. While this means that I'll be lambasted with holiday music from now until January, it also means lots of cookies, so I'm okay with it. :p

Also, big news that I wanted to share with you all: I found out recently that I was accepted for a Birthright Israel trip in January; basically, the state of Israel pays for non-Israeli Jews to come to Israel for ten days and see the major sights and get a taste of Israeli culture. There was a long application process, and unfortunately only a small portion of applicants can go because of the relatively small number of spots open on each trip, but I think I was picked because I'm close to aging out of the program -- you can only apply from ages 18 to 26.

I know it might not be the absolute smartest time to be going there, but this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. They assure us that the programs are in touch with Israeli authorities constantly, there are GPS trackers and medics on our buses, and we won't even be going near Gaza in the first place. Our guides recently emailed the whole trip roster, saying that they've been to Israel several times and have always felt totally safe. So, I'm really excited! I'll be gone from January 2-12, so needless to say, I most likely will not be posting during that period. We'll be going to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Golan Heights, the Negev Desert (where we'll ride camels and spend a night sleeping in Bedouin tents), float in the Dead Sea, and lots of other stuff!

Razor, I hear that is an awesome experience. My daughter wants to go when she hits 18 (because a girlfriend went and came back with amazing stories). I think I'll wait for your report before deciding. ;)

No problem, I'll tell you guys all about it! I'll also be getting a brand new digital camera before I go, so hopefully I'll have great pictures :)

Just saw Breaking Dawn......loved it. I have to say this series followed the books in an amazing way. I like that the story didn't change to suit a movie screen.
AND I stopped for a coffee on my way to pick up my daughter from school....to whichever one of you decided to tell me to try a breve latte.....thank you!!! I love it. And it seems to be helping break through the med fog a little bit too.
Delicious.

I havent posted in here awhile and i come back to see a Breaking Dawn comment lol...

Glad you are starting to feel better though BB :)

Actually enjoyed the whole series of movies BB. I didn't think they strayed too much and stayed pretty true to the books. Always will be a few differences but this was a rather well done book to movie series...with the exception of casting Kristen Stewart....ugh.

Not to throw cold water on your enjoyment :D but:

This is from a Hollywood Reporter review of the latest Twilight movie:

I am proud to say that I got a 175 once, but my average is around 100 :p

I'm awesome at Wii bowling though, can get 300s with regularity.

Another story from the Chief, not sure if I told you this one or not... read at your own peril:

I used to bowl very well. Actually nailed a 240 once... no lie. Hated myself for weeks for choking on the 8th frame on. But I averaged about a 200. I also golfed. And I was good at it: shot about a 68 on a good day.

But as I aged something happened - my golf and bowling scores reversed. I got to where I bowled a 68 and golfed a 200.

Don't laugh: I got my money's worth out of the greens fee! I was out there all day! :D

My handicap got so big they called it a disability instead. It got to the point that the PGA finally sent me a letter banning me from any course that didn't have a windmill on it. And bowling? When the PBA said there was no way I could use gutter bumpers at my age, I knew it was over. I sold my bowling gear and clubs.

And here I sit.

:D

Fuuny thing is that I'm terrible at Wii bowling. Real life bowling doesn't translate to Wii bowling at all.

Its the opposite for me at wii bowling im amazing but real life bowling i need the bumpers up. ;) Not really but wii bowling isnt accurate at all.
