Help Galaxy Nexus

I am looking to buy a new phone, and as I've repaired my nexus 4 twice already, I'm sick of its fragility. I know the new nexus is coming out very soon, but as it will be at least 350 and after shipping and tax in my state it comes out to be around $400 and I do not want to spend that much. I am pretty much only interested in unlocked nexus phones, and I have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GSM). My questions are:
1. Will Google continue to update it past 4.3?
2. Can it still run the applications of 2013 with ease? (I'm not talking about really intense games but can it handle all the tasks the average smartphone user would throw at it?)
3. Is $230 too much to pay for this phone?

1. Galaxy Nexus will get updates as long as the hardware is powerful enough to run it.

2. My Galaxy S3 mini is quite a bit less powerful than the Galaxy Nexus but it is able to handle everything I throw at it (I don't game on it anyway).

3. No idea. I live in Asia. :)

1. yes, if a gsm version. google does not push the ota's for the cdma versions, sprint and verizon. they are stuck on 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 respectively. there are a few 4.3 based custom roms available for the cdma phones.
2. my gnex does everything just fine. especially with android 4.3.
3. 230 is too much. waay too much.

Why is it too much though? It is unlocked and the cheapest price I could find. I understand if it was the price after being subsidized by the carrier, but its not. Is the phone just not worth that much anymore?

Correct. I'll be lucky to get $100-125 or so for mine when I sell it.

Granted mines the sprint one, but you're still talking about a 2 year old device.

I think you may be disappointed if you go to the gnex from the nexus 4. A LOT changed in that year

Apart from the pure specification differences, does it have a much different feel? In terms of the outside I don't think I will be disappointed but if it lags or is slower than the Nexus 4 I probably will be.

:/ will I get a solid 3 hours of constant use? Because I generally just need it to last 8 or 9 hours with probably only an hour of actual time with the screen on.

My CDMA version will get about 2 1/2 hours with constant use with the screen on, and that's with LTE on and moderate brightness. You can sort of eek out 3 hours if you really try though. And of course that's if I try to use apps and websites with dark themes. The Galaxy Nexus has an OLED display so white websites and apps will drain the battery faster.

Also, this phone will be a bit slower than the Nexus 4 since its a full year older. Not that its unbearably slow. Heck, even with 4.3 its still perfectly usable. Just expect hiccups and pauses. After all, its running a very early TI OMAP dual core, similar to the one in the GS II. And it only has 1 GB of RAM (which was a substantial amount for 2011) compared to the N4's 2 GB.

Is there a difference in CDMA and GSM battery life?

I'd say the GSM will probably have a better battery life, since its not driving two separate CDMA and LTE radios. Otherwise, that's the only real difference between them, besides the CDMA version having 32 GB of internal storage.

The GSM has a smaller battery itself. Stock battery on GSM version is 1750 while CDMA is 1850.
