Galaxy Note 2 Tips and FAQ's - Quick Access Thread

drexappeal

Extreme Android User
In the interest of tradition, I decided to compile a Complete "Quick Access" Thread, that will be a shortcut to some of the better/more thorough discussions going on about the Note 2. This is a tradition that started in the EVO forums, and extended to the Photon (courtesy of busted bones). I know other forums have benefited from similar threads, so hopefully, for long time members, this will allow you quick navigation through the forums when you're trying to find an old thread that hadn't been on topic in a while. For you new members (and especially those new to Android), it'll afford you the opportunity to learn functions on the Note 2 and/or Android quickly, in order for you to have the ability to participate in discussions sooner than you might have before. And be able to get familiar with your device (or any Android device you own in the future).

Enjoy!

I'm sure, as time goes on, the mods and guides will add or remove links as they see fit, to keep discussions flowing for both newcomers and people already involved in the Note 2 forums. If anybody sees a discussion that should be added, but isn't listed, please feel free to post and I can even edit to add.

I say we Note 2 folks start a drex for Guide campaign :thumb:

Thanks again drex for all your contributions to this forum. :adore:

treb1797...I appreciate the nomination, but I've already been there done that. Didn't have enough time to do that, enjoy the forums and be able to do the day job effectively also...so I resigned my position a few months ago.

I still try to help out all my former Guides and Mods though, whenever I can.

Can anyone pls help me deleting photos from the gallery on SGNote2? I am new to galaxy, had used iPhone b4. All my pucase albums is uploaded on the note, when I set up the gmail account:(

Have you downloaded the manual? The link is listed above, for download from the samsung website. Take a look through the manual and I'm sure you'll find the answer.

Easy cross platform way to delete any files on android is long press on file, then choose delete. But I'm sure there's a multi-select option on the note 2 that will allow you to delete multiple files at one time.

Looks like this thread is already helping people find great, pre-existing threads, to keep discussions going.

TS, sticky when you get a chance?

If you want to replace S-Voice with Google Now when you double press the center button...

I hate S-Voice and prefer Google Now. After a little searching I found this post, works great:

Original info at XDA Link

Here is the play link for home2

Step 1) Go into the S Voice settings and uncheck the Launch SVoice box. This will keep S Voice from launching when you double tap the home button.

Step 2) Install Home2 Shortcut from the Play Store

Step 3) Open Home2 Shortcut and configure it to launch the app of your choosing with a double tap of the home button. edited for Note 2

Step 3a) Open Home2 and under settings step 1
....Choose Application --> Installed applications --> Voice Search --> OK

Step 3b) Scrolled down to step 2 and selected "Short"

Step 3c) Scrolled down to step
.... Choose Home Application --> Touch Wiz home

Step 3d) Scroll down to step 4 and click the "Close button"
.... Clicked Home Shortcut --> Always --> Ok

Note If the close button does not bring up the home selection screen and you are running another launcher like Nova, ADW or Apex, go into settings --> manage applications --> "The launcher you are using" --> click clear defaults

Works great

That signifies where the charge level is of the battery. Red= low, orange= medium, light orange=medium-high, green=fully charged.

That's a good thing, not bad

"Safe Mode" Recovery procedure

I have been installing several apps, and suddenly one of my favorites "Sun Vox" no longer made any sound. Figured id debug later.

So just this evening I first saw my Galaxy Note 2 Phone said:

"SAFE MODE"

in the Lower Left corner of the Home screen.

Discovered the steps to Reset and clear that problem here:

"
Safe mode on any electronic device is usually a diagnostic mode used to route out problems. To get the Samsung Galaxy out of Safe mode, follow these steps:

1. Power off the phone.

2. Remove the battery and reinsert the battery."

So I did procedure above, and now everything is now working just fine!

I love showing off my phone and have found the following features the best way to do just that:

Want to show off the features of your Galaxy Note 2 and make your friends envious (besides the screen size)?

S-Pen
Ok, the S-Pen by far is one of the coolest and useful tools out there, so why not start there
Prep:
Make sure page buddy is turned on (Settings

I'm sure it's fine in here.

Menu>System Settings>ApplicationManager>ScrollRight to "ALL">SNote>Clear defaults

Thanks but i went there and i cant do clear defaults as its faded and cant be clicked
Any other suggestion

Were there 2 SNotes showing? There are 2 in mine. 1 doesn't have the clear defaults, but the other one does. And you have to scroll down to see it.

If that's the case, then the next time you click on S-Note, it should give you the prompt again.

Its not showing the promot, i really dont know why but its bugging me that once you click dont show this again, you cant get it back

So sorry...trying to think of what else it could be. The only other option I can think of is to clear the cache, but I don't want you to lose any Notes that you've already created. I've only had my phones for a couple weeks, so I've only had one opportunity to use SNote in a meeting, so I couldn't even say what the prompt was or how to bring it back.

Have you checked the settings in the SNote app itself? Maybe there's something in there that'll allow you to bring the prompt back?

Hey, clearing the cache has no effects on your saved notes, and i always clear the cache memory.
Ya i looked everywhere but so far couldnt get it back, i dont need it anyway for now, but was woundering how to get it back, who knows might be of good use one day or another, anyways will keep on trying.
Thanks
