Samsung's Epic 4G for Sprint seems to live up to its name -- Engadget

I wonder why Sprint would even put a thought of this into the mind of EVO users who still have about a week in their 30 day cancellation period. Why not introduce this after that?

Yeah, seems like it's going to be a cool phone, but the EVO still has my heart. Something about the way the EVO looks. In my opinion, it's the best looking phone on the market right now...followed by (gasp!) iphone 4.

While it is a very good phone, and probably a little better than the EVO, I won't switch, as I'm not a fan of hardware keyboards. Sprint knows there's a club of people who enjoy the KB and people who don't, so it's best to push out another phone with one for those who want the choice :)

Is that an Android phone? i'm kinda new to android. it looks like one.

yep, Android 2.1

Ohhh I forgot it will have the Hummingbird cpu.....oh my.....lol

Sooo many choices out now. I envy ppl that have upgrades, month to month, or are getting their first smart phone right now.

its definitely not better than the evo. evo has a better camera (both front and back) better processor, htc sense (opinion of course), dual led flash (epic only has single flash).

Watch some videos of Euro Galaxy S owners and you might re-think that faster processor comment. Both have 1Ghz processors but this Hummingbird, just like TI OMAP in the Droid X, looks snappier than the Snapdragon in the EVO.
Samsungs Epic 4G should record 720p in 30fps just like the Euro Galaxy S owners are reporting and phone pics that require flash because of low light rarely turn out well...so single led or dual led, not a huge difference. Looks like the LED is larger on the Epic even, who knows though. Its all minor bs and really comes down to that keyboard. People either want that or don't. I prefer the keyboard because its an option. You can still use the on-screen keyboard but if ya feel like it, you can also use the slider.

^ I was just getting ready to say that about the cpu....It will be VERY interesting for Sprint customers who were planning to get the EVO, or who are within their 30 days who care about the cpu's.

And Touch Wiz, like Blur is a revamped version.

If talking about the cpu, just for benchmark purposes only Its already on Quadrant..its right under the "Shadow"/X....

If that holds true, I guess the OMAP is a wee bit better than the Hummingbird. Cuz the Galaxy S has a better gpu than the X.

I expect the Samsung to be a better gaming phone than the X too. And wouldnt u know, there is a version coming to Verizon....LOL!!!

lmao seriously. I wonder if ANY phone out there has shown the true potential of the snapdragon. At any rate i've only known HTC to use the snapdragon, well and LG, but who cares about the eXpo.

I don't like it. And I'm not being silly either. Its an ugly phone with an even uglier interface.

Although I do like whats under the hood.

The interface is just fine. what your looking at in the picture is the menu where all the apps are kept, not the home screen.

My last 2 phones were Samsings...will not buy a Samsung again. You want to talk about lack of support. The EVO might have some issues but Sprint and HTC are scrambling to get them ironed out. There has already been an update and a rumored update around the corner as well as 2.2 in the VERY near future. It took Samsung about 5 months to get the first update out to the Moment and that was one messed up phone.

No love for Samsung here...in fact, they botched it so bad for me that I don't even think I could buy any Samsung product!!! Consider yourself warned!
