Help Galaxy S3 losing information when switched off.

Afternoon All.

My Galaxy S3 appears to be resetting to a standard ring tone and losing all people tags on photos every time I switch it off and back on again.
There might be more information lost which I haven't noticed yet, but it is very odd.
Is this a commonly known issue?
