Finishing up charging the thunderbolt nexus 7.
I did realize something, upon checking the wakelock detector before the thing shut down, I noticed a bunch of services where running, like tapatalk was on top and others. What this could have been was the service doing its half hour fetch of new topics and stuff, but this really should not take juice.
Now, what this means? If in airplane mode, the programs are still running and trying to check services, well, then, it would eat up battery because they are spending the time to get out when they can't.
I also noted even when on wifi, my cell signal was trashed. Weak cell service was noted in the battery stats. Why this thing is on wifi, it is still using using cell data. Kind of don't make sense, but it kind of does, because the device still needs to handshake with the tower.
My phones happen to use the microcell tower, I am not sure if I can use the nexus 7 on that, I guess I could add the number to the list to see if that works.
Since the device has spent lots of time in my basement with crappy service and the same at work.
But why would my battery get trashed at work in airplane mode? Same thing. Services trying to update.
Either this is a bad battery (I will find out more after some testing). A rampaging API from google's updated software, or something else.
With the new rom / kernel and more testing, perhaps I can narrow things down.
