Generic tablet wifi wps requirement bypass

Is there a way to bypass my tablet's requirement to press the WiFi Protected Setup button on the router to allow a WiFi connection? I don't know whether my tablet requires some WPS info from the router or whether the router is providing some WPS information that the tablet cannot process. In either case can I do something with the tablet to bypass this discrepancy as I have no access to various WiFi spot routers?

Just log in manually - you don't have to use WPS, that just makes it easier. But if WPS doesn't work, chances are your router is using a form of security that the tablet can't handle. WPS "just works".
