Help GNEX won't charge

I have had 2 GNEX phones for 2 years.
One of them suddenly won't charge. A few days ago it was intermittent. Sometimes it would charge and sometimes it wouldn't. Now it won't charge at all.
I have swapped out 4 different batteries.
I have have tried 4 different AC chargers.
These batteries and the chargers all work fine with my other GNEX.

So, I've eliminated the batteries and chargers.
It seems it's boiled down to the port.

I have read online success stories where people have pried the USB 'tab' so it sits more in the center.

I'm concerned about trying this and want to see if anyone has has experience fixing this issue on their own.

Buying another phone is expensive and I'm trying to avoid that.

I don't blame you for not wanting to start prying around with things. You cold looks for an external charger or use the other phone to charge both batteries. It may be a pain but could keep the bad phone up and running until it can be repaired or replaced.

Buy an external charger. They come free with extra batteries (which are cheap now). Swap batteries when needed. Not fun, but inexpensive.

Not an option. Too much attention required.
Thanks anyway.

IMO the solder connections of the Micro USB port in the phone have broken loose. It happened to my Grandson's GN. A difficult but not impossible repair.

What I read on the internet from folks who had the same problem solved the problem.
I removed the back cover and the battery. I then took a very small plastic flat head screwdriver and carefully, very carefully pried the USB tab, in the port, to the middle. It was off center from top to bottom.
The whole thing took less than 5 minutes.
I plugged in 3 different chargers and everything has worked fine since.
Saved me buying a new phone.

I'm not suggesting anyone try this. I did since I had nothing to lose. Fortunately the forums saved me a ton of dough.

I'm with you. I would try it too. Being an electronics Engineer gives me more confidence but having nothing to lose is certainly a motivation.

I had this issue a few months ago. I have the insurance, so I guess I stood to lose about $99.

I used an old charger to bend the little internal USB tab back to the middle. Didn't even have to take the phone apart.

Worked like a champ. I'm not suggesting anyone try this.
