Help Going on a cruise. Got some questions...

Okay, so I went on a cruise and was in airplane mode the whole time so that I did not use any data through the ship's connections. My question is, if we are traveling close enough to the coast line to actually pull a tower, how do I know if I am using the tower data, or the ship data? Going on another one in a few weeks and hope that while traveling around FL, I can grab a signal...

I think you have to come out of Airplane Mode and see if your cell phone is connecting to either a 3g or 4g signal depending on your phone. When we went on a cruise my verizon phone was set to Airplane mode and when we were reaching near Key West I turned mine off and it latched on to a 4g connection that was from Verizon.

I hope that answers your question.

Yeah, grabbed a tower in key west myself. So, if I don't have WiFi on, my phone will only pull from a tower, and not the ship right? I think their charges are down right REDICULOUS.

Correct. If you do not have WIFI turned on, you will force your device to pull from towers.
