so many colors to choose from...did they feel like they had to go with gold because the iphone is available in that color? i understand in some cultures gold is good luck, but in the US gold just looks gaudy.

It's Matte so its not too gaudy. I just bought it. It was $50 cheaper for the gold. I'm going to slap a case on it anyway.
