Goodbye, i7500 :( Hello, X5 :D

G'day,

After bringing my i7500 into the world, a fresh and raw faced little 1.5 Cupcake build on board and seeing it grow up through stock 1.6 then Galaxo 1.6 and finally into a real phone via GAOSP BETA 3.... it is time to say goodbye to my i7500

Now that I've lived with a smartphone for so long I want more. MORE!

They Huawei X5 / IDEOS U8800 was released at the right time and for the right price (AUD$299.00 incl GST) so I grabbed one and made it my new phone.

Pros: Bigger screen, higher resolution, faster processor, more RAM
Cons: No physical buttons, camera licks balls

You'll be please to know my i7500 is still being put to good use though. Its the receiver for a website I made -> Rejection Line -> 0406650430 Not much good to you outside of Australia, but it may interest people anyway to know that an i7500 powered by GAOSP BETA 3 and running an app called SMSSync (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.addhen.smssync) is what handles all the incoming voice/SMS/MMS for that site. It works incredibly well, and has handled a rather large number of calls and texts without fault.

Anyway. Thanks to Drakaz and company for keeping the i7500 dream alive. If it wasnt for your efforts the i7500 would have languished on 1.5 forever (here, at least). Hopefully you move on to an X5 too so I can reap the benefits of your hard work there too

Well, no real point in making ANOTHER bye-bye thread. I haven't been active here in the past few months and well, my excuse is "family".

That came to a head last friday. I must have re-flashed my galaxy too many times or something, cause it actually got STUCK while I was in the super-market! My Mom was in the car outside and she was really upset that I "switched off" my phone. -sigh-

Anyway, long story short, I have a Sony Xperia Arc right now. A friend of mine was blasting me for NOT buying the Samsung Galaxy-II. Saying things about "dual-core" and all that. Sure, it *might* be a better phone, spec-wise, but after my time with the ORIGINAL galaxy, I felt it was time to move on from Samsung.

Sony has a good reputation at my house. Heck, my 10-year old PS2 still functions as if it were brand new! Hopefully, I'll be able to get similar mileage from the Arc as well !!

I really loved the company here. Too many to hug individually, but I want to give a shout-out to these forum-goers,
DaSchmarotzer, you were one of a kind !
Lelouch, I'm going to miss you the most !!

And of course, to Drakaz and all the other developers as well! If it weren't for me putting in Froyo on my old galaxy, I couldn't have got as high a discount as I did !!

I'm also going to join DaSchmarotzer's wishes (I'm lazy).
I'm really sad to see you go, but... ...IMHO this time is going to come for all of us, sooner or later.
Hope you have better luck (support) with your new unit then with Galaxy. And you're happy with it.

I'm stuck with it until later this year or next, when I'm not going to tolerate it any longer. BTW, my limit of tolerance is pretty high.

P.S: when you have time and some advices to other (new) members for this unit, please help them (make DaSchmarotzer's and mine lives easier) or just say Hi from time to time. This is not a goodbye just bye for another day.

That's pretty much how it is already, don't you think?

The flow of new users isn't nearly as strong as it once was, plus one day the development is going to stop so we'll get bored.

I'll probably keep this phone for quite a while, unless it breaks. My upgrade is still far far away, in a year (and a couple months!). My tolerance is also pretty high, since I don't currently have money to waste.
