Root Goodbye, Truimph

This morning my phone completely bit the dust. I was taking pictures when the screen went zeebra-like, so I pulled the battery to restart as usual. Unfortunately, this time it won't turn on at all, not even into recovery. I've tried all the tips and tricks I could find, but am now in the acceptance stage of grief.

So farewell, my MT friends (and my $25/mo T_T). Thanks again to all the devs for all their hard work.

I recently found a brand new Motorola Triumph on eBay for $155. You might look around if you really don't want to give up the $25 plan (I didn't but I was dying for a new phone that did more than my LG Rumor Touch, even though it still worked perfectly and would go for DAYS without needing a charge).

I'll admit I do miss the lack of battery drain on the Rumor Touch though :D.

Get an up to date phone and move to Ting, ~$30/month. I picked up a TOL lg Optimus G, quad core 32g memory on eBay for $140, and moved to Ting. First month bill was $12 since I did very litte talking, they use a sliding scale, pay for what you use. Let me know if you want a referral, we both get $25 credits....

If you can, put the referal link in your signature.

That's too bad, you will be missed. What phone are you going for now. I kind of like the lg optimus F3 with the massive battery.

"Awe your Iphone 5 is at 10% battery. How Cute. My phone still has 75%!"

I thought about getting another Triumph, but didn't mind shelling out a bit more for something more up to date. Plus, the VM rep told me that I'd still get bumped up to the $35 dollar plan, since the system would consider it a "new" phone. I don't really know if that was a clever ploy to get me to buy a new toy/up my monthly fee, or if they just had no idea what they were talking about. What I do know is I have an S3 now, and it's pretty nice.

Ok, I lied. It's really very freakin' uber nice! ^_^

I also decided to stick with VM, $10 more is still better than most competitors. I actually get great coverage in my area too, and it keeps the wife and I on the same carrier.

Do you get LTE in your area? I upgraded from the Triumph a couple months ago. I really wanted the S3 but don't have LTE in my area. I'm very happy with the WiMax though. Still miss the Triumph, but at least it's staying in the family.. My daughter is using it now.

I'm lucky that the North Bay is LTE area, the speed boost from 3G to LTE is really nice. Right across the Golden Gate Bridge in SF is WiMAX only land [insert Nelson pointing and going "Ha ha!" here]

Same here. VM had the S III for $ 249 on cyber monday and I couldn't pass that up.

WAY faster than the Triumph. Better 3G radio too, I get 2-3x faster
3G speed on the S III than the Triumph ever did in the same area.

To say nothing of having an onboard HD video camera that actually works
without dropping frames.
