Root [GUIDE] Link2SD + FolderMount

First thing's first, thanks to brentwag for the idea for this guide. Without his method, this would have never came to me.

This is my first guide so tell me what you think? :)

This guide is a mash-up of various other guides, articles, and threads on other forums. Thought I might put it all together into a guide for you guys.

The entire process takes place on your phone so there is no need for a computer :D

Note: You WILL need the full versions of Link2SD and FolderMount or this will NOT work.

Apps you'll need:
Aparted
Link2SD+
FolderMount

You must be ROOTED in order to do this or it will NOT work.

Once you have these apps, watch this video and follow it EXACTLY.

Once you've done what is specified in that video, go ahead and open up Link2SD and look for the apps you want to put on your SD card.

As an example we're going to use GT Racing 2 (easier since it's already downloaded lol).

Make sure you have at least 1GB of space on your phone in order to download it. Once you've downloaded it, go to Link2SD, tap GT Racing 2, then go to Create Link, and make sure check all the options that are possible. After that, you should be back to 1gb of space since it's been entirely moved to your SD card.

Once it's done Creating Link, go to the app and let it download the game data (you can exit the app while it's downloading, it works in the background). When it's finished downloading the game data from within the app, head on over to FolderMount and swipe from the left side, then tap Apps Analyzer. Look for GT Racing 2 and tap it, there should be two options and one clickable, now hit Create Pair (this works in the background as well, so you can do other stuff while it's working).

After it's done creating the pair, you MUST go to the list of pairs within FolderMount and make SURE to mount the data on your SD card by tapping the little pin to the right of your game in the list. The pin MUST be green or else the next time you open the game, it WILL redownload the data to your internal storage. I cannot stress this enough.

Now, after you've done all this, go ahead and fire up your brand new game and enjoy the whole 1gb of space you've still got left :D

Rinse and repeat for all other desired apps.

Okay void as i followed your video properly, im still not getting a great increase in space. I did the partitioning with aparted almost exactly the same size as the video but should i put more into the fat32 since i only have a 16g right now?

THis is what my storage shows, is it showing the way its supposed to?

Did you link everything up with Link2SD, including internals? Also your internal probably has some leftovers in it. See if folder mount can clean that up for you

Looks like you have it right. As you link more, move more to Ext.SD card the available space will grow. I took some advise and removed some pre installed apps, then re installed them from play store (ext sd set as install folder) which made them MY apps and AppMGR lll was able to verify them on the ext sd. Be sure to utilize the folder mount, link2sd, and appmgr lll. I hope this helps. I'm sure some of the other guys on here can explain this process better than I can but I hope this gets you in the right direction.

Right on and yea i'll get app mgr 3 and do what you mention about the reinstall. Im gonna redo everything tomorrow or sunday anyway. Start over fresh. Hmmm, this will be the 4th time lol

my main question is, now since all that extra space is supposed to be allocated to the internal, shouldn't the amount be showing way more than 1.48g? And my primary confusion is if i partition my sd card so there is more internal space for games and apps, why then do we move stuff to the sd? It gives me a headache tryin to figure that one out lol

Say if you download the sim free play, that game alone takes up all the memory for these phones, without moving to your sd that would be the only app you can have on your phone...I Got about 3 big games on my phone and still got 1 gb of space

The thing about the 1.48g is, that's all that the system allocates from the 4g of space to the user. the other 2.5g of space is raw hardware and android system and stuff. No matter what you do, 1.48 is all you'll be getting. We move stuff to the SD because the more stuff that's on the internal storage, the slower the phone gets because it has no room to breathe. You have to keep your internal storage at at least 5-600m free for good overall performance.

So again, just trying to make sure i have a really good amount put for fat32 which was my original question, and i have a 16g card

Your fat32 partition is for your apps and your apps only. Its size depends on how many apps you have or would like to have in the future. The ext4 partition is.for everything else, music, movies, pictures, videos, etc.

Okay how exactly do i get to have over 1gb of storage on internal when i pretty much deleted everything and im still at just over 500mb?? What else do i remove??
