Has anyone been able to update to ICS via wifi in the last 24 hours?

I suspect that the "server unavailable" message is an issue with their server and not due to congestion. The Vivid wasn't THAT popular of a phone and even before ATT announced it to all owners via text message (just got mine tonight), the server unavailable message was already prevalent. But, I am indeed curious if anyone has been successful pinging the server via the "Check for updates" in the settings in the last day?

Yes there have been people that updated OTA today. Its more then likely due to congestion.Did you try the method of pinging there server via this method?
Dial *#*#682#*#* in the dialer while on WIFI and see if the update option pops up.
The update is also now available on HTC''s website here>
HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Vivid? (AT&T) - Downloads

Just download it to a PC and install it by following there directions.

Ok, that didn't take long to disprove my theory then. O.o LOL - but still, it's just a bit uncanny that the server has been unavailable constantly for so many people.

Thanks for the tip using the dial code. I read it earlier and didn't know why I didn't try it. Indeed that worked and is installing now. :)

I wanted to avoid doing it the PC way since it would wipe everything, but that was going to be my next resort.

Awesome!
Im glad you got it sorted out :D

I have been trying also for days over and over and nothing.. finally I just did the ruu from HTCs site. It wiped out everything, but thats normally a better way anyways.

Big thanks, WTM! That dial up trick is working with the newest version when my Vivid refurb wouldn't grab the OTA update. Appreciate it!

To update to ICS, I had to update over my data plan. I tried for over a month to update over WiFi. The data used to update did not phase me though - a small price to pay for the nice update. If you can, I would recommend it.
