Yeah, "like" feels like the wrong response because it's just bad news, but if you delete anything on an android device it is deleted, end of story. The OS doesn't baby you with trash bins where things you delete stay until you empty them, they are genuinely gone (it's the same as deleting stuff on a computer using a command line instruction rather than a GUI).

If something is important, always have a backup copy that isn't on the device (and I don't mean "on an SD card in the device" either). Even if there was a way of recovering stuff from the phone that wouldn't help you if the phone was lost, stolen or dropped in a lake, so your data are never safe unless you have a backup on a completely different device.
