HELP ... How to Install JellyBean 4.1.1 on Captivate i897 ???

Are you sure its the captivate? from ATT? because the model number is I-897. I believe the I-9000 is the international version so I dont know if a captivate ROM will work the same.
If you do have the captivate, make sure you are rooted and install CWM. Download the ROM from JB you want and flash (ROM page should have the instructions). I believe ATT wont upgrade the captivate officially.

Which ROM are you planning on using? I know that my Captivate (i896) was driving me nuts until I installed Cyanogenmod 9. It really helped speed up my phone and ran really smoothly. I would also recommend getting a second battery with a wall charger because the battery drains a lot quicker.

I have Cyanogenmod 10.1.2 on my Captivate. It's a version of Android 4.2.2. Go to CyanogenMod | Android Community Rom based on Jelly Bean, find your device in the devices list and follow the instructions there to download and install the latest stable version. I'd recommend installing things slowly and carefully after that. There are some functions already supported in CM 10.1.2 that you may have been using apps for that you won't need. Particularly management apps. I haven't needed any of the management apps that I used on Gingerbread. Also, some apps you may have been using on Gingerbread can affect battery badly on Android 4.2.2 -- be particularly careful about apps that affect or monitor sound or battery. You don't need them on Android 4.2.2 because the settings are built in and they can conflict with the system and make your phone not work the way you intend. You also may want to turn off some of the settings that are default-on with CM 10.1.2.
Overall, I think I'm getting about the same battery life on CM 10.1.2 after changing some of the settings, but I like the JB feature set better.
