HI EVERYBODY,
i live in the United States, precisely in North Carolina, just in case it makes a difference; back in January i purchased a Samsung i9000 Galaxy S with Android 2.1 Eclair.

NO BIGGY

i connected the Phone to Kies and it updated the Phone to Android 2.2 Froyo.

Much better than before, but since then the Battery started drainign crazy fast and with the time the Phone is getting slower and slower with some Lags that sometimes are ridiculous, at the point that sometimes i tap on something and put down the phone while i wait that it loads whatever i want it to load.

But now there is Android 2.2.1, and i have been trying to find this Update for over a month now, and it never appears...

FEW MINUTES AGO I PLUGGED 'AGAIN' MY PHONE TO KIES... HERE IS WHAT IT SAYS:

I think it's pretty easy to understand what KIES states... but i am reading every day of more and more people around the world that updated to Android 2.2.1 and now there is people talking already of leaked versions of 2.3... and meanwhile i am stuck with the super laggy 2.2???

Is it my phone that is messed up or is just Samsung that is playing hardball and does not release the Update in the US for their Samsung i9000???

Thank's for any info

Why does Kies look different to mine? :S

Samsung don't release there firmwares in the US?
Do they even sell the Galaxy S i9000 in the US? I thought it was Vibrant, Fascinate etc who get upgrades from AT&T, Verizon etc

Just in case you don't read it in my other post, ASK YOUR CARRIER.

it's an unlocked phone that my carrier (AT&T) doesn't even sell... to be specific, here in the US there is no carrier that sells this phone... but what does the carrier have anything to do with this?

Isn't the operating system distributed by Samsung trough Kies?

Anyway, i think this phone was originally made for T-Mobile Germany considering that there are a couple of T-mobile apps in it

You've already had your answer earlier in the Post i.e. use Odin to upgrade the phone manually. (please do however understand that this does carry risks)

If your phone is originally from Germany then Kies should treat it exactly like every other unlocked phone in Germany, although there may be some lingering t-mobile nonsense in there which means that kies will only update your phone to the latest version available to t-mobile customers in Germany.

Follow the instructions elsewhere either from this forum or from XDA developers website. Really quite straight foward instructions and they'll point you to all the software and firmware you need.

hope this helps and make sure you try to install the correct fimware for your phone as they DO vary from region to region.
