Hello all, new to AF here with my first post. My phone is a Huawei Ascend M860, stock 2.1 Rom, rooted using Z4 also using the paid version of TB.
Question 1: I did a backup using TB and then copied the SD card to my pc running XP. I ran an AVG virus scan and the results indicated that I had a virus and that it was embedded into the Z4 root application. Here are the details of the virus as per AVG:
Android_dc.DCY
Android_dc.DCV
Android_mc.EQB
Android_dc.BJR
Android_mc.AIZ or ALZ
Here's the paths to the virus locations:
\z4root.1.3.0.apk:\res\raw\superuser.apk:\superuser.apk:\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF
\z4root.1.3.0.apk:\res\raw\superuser.apk:\superuser.apk:\classes.dex
\z4root.1.3.0.apk:\classes.dex
\z4root.1.3.0.apk:\META-INF\MANIFEST\MF
So are these actual threats or normal as part of the exploit to gain root access?
There is very limited information about these threats on the web hence the questions. The phone has been acting goofy and at times restarting itself. A few days ago one of my yahoo accounts went crazy and sent email to everyone in my contacts. They didn't appear to be infected messages.
Question 2: If the above listed files are infections, where can I download a clean version of Z4 root or a similar application to gain root access? The links that I followed from AF all lead to corrupt files, that is if the files listed above are indeed infections.
Question 3: I want to upgrade to CM7 but still a bit confused with which ROM to use. What CWR can be used using the stock 2.1 Rom and if not, then how do you do a complete backup of the phone using the stock ROM? Question 4: What version of CM7 and GAPPS are best and or the most stable for the M860? Can you direct to clean links?
