help, tether not showing up Dinc and Aria

I have a rooted DINC, a jailbroken iPhone and a stock ATT aria.the DINC is mine and im with a few ATT friends. My problem is I can turn on tether on my DINC and the iPhone and my laptop find it just fine but the aria cannot see it at all even after scanning several times. The aria does see other wireless networks and is setup to use the home network. We were far home so the home network wasnt in range.
Any ideas why the aria cant see my WiFi tether?

I tried tethering my friend's blackberry storm 2 to my wifi and it didn't see it either. Her data (or phone) is SO slow.
