Root Help?

I'm trying to port some MIUI goodness, either that or Lewa OS. My girlfriend has this phone and she's addicted to MIUI's customization's and Lewa's snappiness. Any help would be great! I have never ported before and I am not new to Android I used to be a guide here... Just any info will do.

I knew that much, I'm getting that port on the way... any advice? I'm supposed to use a base rom to port the CM so should I use the super stock resotre? Or is there a better platform I should start on? Any suggestions? Tips? And thank you LV you've been all over this site helping ppl... Any links would help too...

Well you could always try to use the deodexed stock rom... but if you hope to get cm running problem free, building from source is your best bet.

Some progress is being made on the reverb.

you guys have teh reverb as a sister device. jimmy has been hopping in irc talking with interloper for days talking back and forth getting help trying to get cm10 booting on teh reverb. the only rush owner that comes in is chris and he doesnt come in for help or often. as i said to many others before yall, it is up to you guys to do something about the situation. no one is gunna swoop in and save ya.

we are here for anyone looking for assistance but we (OUDHS) are too busy and too loaded to try and take on random devices. we do offer any help we can possibly provide though

uh, you cant ported cm from a stock rom. its just not possible, it has to have a aosp kernel and a source compiled from source.

I knew the kernel had to at least be modified.

Can't you use the stock kernel as long as you change the ramdisk?

correct, it will allow most things to be working.

I smell lotsa hard work... Thanks shabby and LV. Anyone have any ideas on how to obtain source codes? I have tried on several devices Prevail, Exhibit 2, Nexus... to no avail. I need the source, the ramdisk ( or how to change whats needed) and some REALLY good advice and I'll get to it.

you get cm's source code and then you make the stuff for the rush.

He did mention lewa os in the op. Lewa is only for 2.3 android.

Okay so source from the Rush gives me a kernal.tar.gz and a platform.tar,gz. I got cm10 source and I'm still downloading it. When its done I think I'll have everything. JDK, SDK, REPO, GIT, And source for both... One thing though, all the guides say you need a codename for your device. I googled that and found you need to have a working cm port already... Did I miss something??

But to make it flashable, use the apkinstaller.zip (uot kitchen edits framework-rez.apk and systemui.apk)
You will need to create a "framework" folder inside system. systemui.apk goes into app and framework in framework

On another note no my HDD failed two days ago and I lost everything. All progress is at a standstill until I can crack open the case and extract my data. Grrrr. Got a new bigger one and am getting sources again. Will take awhile tho.
