Hope I've made the right decision!

Hi, I've just got my first smartphone, a HTC Desire HD. I was split between getting Android and Windows 7. Windows 7 seemed more in-tune with syncing between the phone and the PC especially with office apps such as OneNote. I opted for Android in the end because it's more established and hopefully better because of more choices. I must say that I'm pretty frustrated at the moment with trying to organize my contacts and finding ways to sync stuff with a PC. I really thought this was going to be easy and fully established. It's early days for me but I'm just hoping I will be able to do the things I want to do. Thanks for creating a site for noobs like me.

The biggest issue I, personally, have with Windows Phone 7 is that Microsoft took away the ability to sync using USB Activesync. Now the recommended option is to sync through the cloud.

DropBox might be worth looking at. This can sync most things that are document oriented.

Use the standard Google services for mail and calendar syncing. These happen seamlessly and are great if you dont mind using GMail and Google Calendar.
