Root how do I flash the gps patch

I just updated to the EH09 for USCellular and got the rooted version and I read that I need to flash a gps patch to get the gps working again. I do not know how to flash a patch and tried a few things like going into boot once I got it on the sd card but when I select it it tells me I have signature verication problems and aborts every time. What files do I need, where do I need them, do I need to unzip them, etc. and then what are the steps to get this done. I like having a rooted phone but I like my GPS also. thanks and sorry I am learning

did you try re-downloading the patch? Last time that happened to me I got frustrated then figured I would try once more. My newest trick is to download directly into a drop box folder and then download to the phone. Worked for me twice on things that previously failed. Good luck.
(and don't apologize for questions around here - it's a friendly place)

Then you need to go back to that site and find out how to resolve it. It is a 3rd party ROM, so we have no idea what the specs of it are. Contact the person who posted the ROM to the site and see if they can help you.

Or, take your phone to a USCC store and ask them to flash the official software onto your phone. I wouldn't mention that you tried to load a 3rd party ROM onto it. Let them find it. They may not say anything at all since they are flashing over it anyway.

It doesn't really help because it doesn't give us any more information about the source file.

I would suggest contacting the person that uploaded the file to that site, or take your phone to a tech center and have them flash the correct software onto the phone.

i am not to worried. I put the unrooted stock eh09 back on the phone already so it works. I just wanted to have the rooted version that is fully working and person who did root it says you need to flash the gpx fix file as well but I was not sure how exactly to do it so I have been googling my best to learn how to do it and thought that asking here would help me but I guess I will have to figure out how to do it on my own at this point. The files have all been provided, I am just learning how to put them on.

Could you tell me how exactly you put the rooted version on your phone step by step? I saw the thread on rootzwiki but it doesn't go into much detail.

Go online and download ODIN if you have not already. You then download the files to your computer. Unzip the files next. Open the ODIN program. Pull the battery out on your phone. Plug the phone into the computer and press the power and vol down(maybe it is up I forget). It will get you into downloading mode and you will see the triangle with the android digging a pile of dirt. You will also see the connection register on the ODIN program. Click on pit and select the PIT file that was extracted. Then go to PDA and click on the TAR file. Click start and it will do its thing. Make sure your computer does not go to sleep and dont unplug anything. Once it is done put your battery back in and start the phone up. You do need to be in USB debugging mode as well. The stock version from the site works fine but the rooted version has a issue with the gps and maybe a couple other things. He provides the fix but I havent learned yet how to flash the fix. If you dont care about your gps on the phone then you will have a stock rooted fine that works fine as far as I could tell. If I missed a step or anything please correct me.

Thanks Shelby. I may hold off until I'm confident I can take care of the GPS patch as well (or when someone comes up with a reliable method to root my stock ROM). In the meantime, if you do figure it out, please let us know how you did it!

will do. I am just learning myself still how to do all this stuff to my phone because it is a cheap and fun hobby so I am googling the crap out of my internet. All the files are there and supposedly it all works. I just dont understand how to get the gps patch file installed on my phone yet. I will ask and get back once I learn how to.

shelby...I finally wandered over to rootzwiki this afternoon (reading your posts got me curious).

I didn't realize that the Samsung Mez guys over at XDA had migrated over to RootzWiki, otherwise I would have said something sooner.

Having said that...
They are the definite experts when it comes to the custom flashes. Phidelt and some of the other Devs on that site have been creating ROMs for these phones since the beginning. Check in with them in their IRC channel if you get really stuck. They are very good about helping people out.

no worries. Where I am still new to all of this and dont know any of you really yet all my learning comes from reading through tons of posts until I figure out how to do it. I did just post over there so I will see what happens. If I learn enough I will eventually be able to do all of this myself...maybe even write a program or two.

alright alright alright. I did more googling and learned how to install clockworkmod recovery and what exactly it is and what it does(I was a little unclear). I thought ROM manager was the same thing but they are completely different things. So I ODIN'd clockwork and got it toboot up into clockwork recovery now that I know what that is for once. I scrolled through and was easily able to update the gps fix to the phone and it now works perfectly so far that I can tell...and I now have EH09 ROOTED thanks to some really smart people out there!
