How To Activate The Phone Once It Arrives In The Mail?

As I couldn't find a black one I ordered it directly from VZ Wireless over the phone. It's at FedEx and ready to be delivered on Thur.

The VZ guy told me all I have to do is put my current phone in airplane mode and fire up the S5 and that this will automatically activate it and get the sim card registered.

Is this true? Could it be this easy or is there something else I'll have to do?

TIA

No. That's not correct at all. You don't want your old phone to be on at the time you try to activate the new one though, so that part is true. I had to do this a few years ago when I ordered my HTC Droid Incredible. It came in the mail and had to be activated by phone. It came with instructions on how to do it. My memory is fuzzy, but I believe I had to call some 800 number for Verizon and go through some automated prompts to activate the phone. You have to enter some information about your particular phone (IMEI number maybe) before it could be activated. I had problems activating it and had to speak to someone over the phone and they activated it for me based on the info I provided about the phone.

All I had to do was shutdown the old phone swap over the SIM card and boot the S5. VZ told me there was some number I was going to have to call and activate the new phone but that was cause they wanted me to use the new SIM card in the S5.

Easy peazy
