HOW TO cope with a loss of your phone ..

InGearX

Android Enthusiast
from all the things that we lose .. I think phone is the most complicated thing .. cause so much time went into personalizing .. so many personal things .. notes .. photos .. videos .. media .. emails .. etc etc ..

yes on a large scale all/most should be synced and fully restoreable ..

but losing a phone vs say just same equivalent amount of cash - you just forget about it ..

but what do you think we can do to make the loss easier?

* I think one important thing - is quickly restoring the loss by getting same or better phone ..

* also point out things that were bad / not working with the lost phone - say some hardware issue .. or scratch on a screen ..

* also general approach - things happen - it's life

* it's just a phone .. and one should expect to lose it .. and should be prepared ..

* WHAT ELSE?

what do you think?

Anything important that you don't have synced - back it up regularly.

However, the first thing I would do is try to find the phone. You can locate a lost Android phone with Android Device Manager - it has been added to every Android phone running 2.2 or higher. For this to work it must be connected to a network.

Android Device Manager lets you locate your device on Google Maps in a browser, and you can ring your device for five minutes. You can also use it to wipe personal data, if you set it up in the Google Settings app on your device before hand.

Well... don't lose your phone!!!
HEY!!! Who am I to talk... I lost my Note II six months ago.
Not a good feeling.
Had to revert back to my red Galaxy SIII until I got my new S5 three weeks ago.
That was a pretty good phone and got my by... so have a nice backup phone, don't sell your old one... remember you were pretty happy with it when you first got it. ;)
Now I'm happy. :)

By making a complaint to the company, You can find this lost phone.

I did that... but most of the time, the phone is long gone, but you can wipe the phone and the company can render the phone unusable to the thieves that stole the phone.

I bet as better phones become more common, it'll be even more emotionally damaging to lose it. Especially because we spend so much time with our phones, it's almost like a little friend.

But yeah, shit happens, and it's always bummy to to lose your phone. At least getting a new one is pretty exciting :p

I'm not sure how many carriers use it, but there is a worldwide database of stolen phones.

GSMA IMEI database:
Recent years have seen an increased need for the IMEI DB to be used as a tool to combat handset theft by ensuring the identities of stolen devices can be shared across networks around the world. The IMEI DB also supports what is known as a
