how to get jelly bean 4.2

hi ive been looking for a guide on how to root my phone to get jelly bean on it. ive seen on posts that it is possible but i dont know how to do it to begin with. can anyone please point me to a guide or tell me how to do it.

i have an HTC sense 2.1 running android 2.3.4
i have not yet rooted my phone because i cant find a guide on that either
any help would be awesome

i would recomend to unlock with htcdev,then run the jpbear tool for s off.
