I'm new to android and have a question. Been a BlackBerry user for a while and haven't much thought about rooting that phone but I have been a little upset with all the bloatware on the phone that I can't get rid of.

If you root the phone does it void the warranty?
while doing this process is it possible to Brick the phone so it is unusable?

Just a couple of questions.

You'll have to check Motorola's warranty policies. I don't want to lead you astray.

It voids your warranty, but the process is pretty easy and safe. You can un-root your device if you need to take it back to the store for a refund.

It says to install Motorola drivers to your PC. However, it gave no link to download them so where should I find these? Also, it's great the Super One Click has already been applied for easy rooting :)

Instructions below the Install Drivers blip:

  • Mount the device for Media Sync.
  • Motorola Helper will install proper drivers.

When it says "Do NOT mount your device’s SD card", should we remove the SD card before connecting the phone to our PC? This is the first time I've owned an Android and rooting, so I need to know everything I can so I don't brick the phone.

I'm also on Win7 and when I went to install .NET Framework 2.0 (64bit), the computer told me it was already part of the OS. Therefore, you should be OK to proceed with the root.

Windows 7 or Vista computers do not need additional installs.

Running Mandriva linux, and not having any luck getting the SuperOneClick working with Mono. Mono starts the program, but it never finishes successfully.
