Help HTC Desire HD stuck in HBOOT mode after being caught in the rain

Hi everyone!

I've had my Deisre HD for a couple of years now and it's managed to last pretty well until yesterday. I was walking to work and got caught in the middle of storm and got absolutely soaked with my phone in my pocket. I checked it when I got to work and it was working fine until I turned it off and on again. After doing this it decided to boot into safe mode which it's never done before, also the lock button seemed to be constantly be pushed down even though I wasn't doing this myself so I decided to try turning it off and on again as this has worked numerous times with any computer problems I've had. :D.

It then booted into what I've researched to be HBOOT mode with Andy on a skateboard at the bottom of the screen. I can't select any of the options as when I try to press my volume buttons nothing happens so I'm completely stuck. Just wanted to see if you guys could help me out before I accept my beloved phone's death and move on to another phone. I appreciate any feedback or help you can give me.

Regards,

Hi Weems, welcome to AF! :)

It sounds like something has shorted in the volume rocker?

Safeboot is accessed by holding Volume down at a certain point during the boot process and Hboot is access whilst holding down whilst turning the phone on. If you can't navigate hboot using the volume keys, that reinforces it.

Try turning off, placing in a box of rice in a dry cupobard and give it a chance to dry out, see if that makes a difference.

The damage may be irreparable though, sorry. :(
