ok im kinda new but i know my way around the block...

i was trying to flash an unsigned rom with amon_RA 1.6... but couldnt toggle verification.

so i downloaded the latest update, moved recovery.img to my sd card...

used terminal emulator and flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img... everything sayd successful.

but now when i try to reboot into recovery the phone appears to power off immediately and wont power back on unless i remove the battery. it will boot fine but if i try to boot into recovery this problem happens. never encountered this, nobody i ask has, and all i can find searching forums is troubleshooting bootloops.

i am wondering if i can try flashing a different recovery image or something of that sort. any help is appreciated.

Your best bet is to follow the instructions here to install a trackball optional version of amon_ra put together by scary alien here: http://androidforums.com/eris-all-t...2-custom-recovery-trackball-not-required.html

Other than this, there never was an update to amon_ra for the eris that I ever saw, so I'm not sure where you found one. I'd also stay away from clockwork recovery as the default recovery, as many people have bricked their Erises with this combination. However, if you install ROM Manager on your phone and hit install recovery from there, it will put an update.zip file on your sd, and you can flash that in amon_ra to start a ROM Manager shell which is safe on the eris, and you can toggle signature verification off (actually, I believe it is off by default.)

Of course, you do have to be careful about flashing unsigned images. They are signed for a reason... If I am not mistaken (though I have never done it), it's not all that difficult to sign a zip yourself.

Anyway, good luck.
