Root HTC one s RUU / or ?

Hello,

So I have been using my One s again and found that android 4.1.1 is very vulnerable to Heartbleed. So now I am trying to find an ruu to run, (I am S-Off), but this is difficult because ruu's are all over the place and finding one seems to be a task.

Also I am ok with going to a custom rom but have had poor experiences with them in the past something is always broken or doesn't seem to work right, or an update breaks this or that...etc

I would like to stay under Android version 4.3 because the permissions manager I like to use does not work on 4.3 or higher. (Why I haven't been using my One M7)

So I am looking for suggestions, and it wont hurt my feelings if you tell me I am stupid - and then let me know how easy this is to fix.
