HTC Tattoo WIFI Connecting to proxy server

hi all i have a htc tattoo and i am trying to connect it at my work place to our wireless but because of security it sits behind a proxy server. On a pc usually it asks for a username and password to get onto the proxy server, any one got any ideas on how to get the htc tattoo to ask me for the proxy server so it will connect onto the wifi network.

It's the only thing I could find. It is not something I can explain to you as I don't understand it myself. That's why I ask you if it will help
